Pipeline protection

THE CHALLENGE

Big pipeline construction projects include water, gas, and oil. Depending on the material that is being transported, the pipeline material can either be made from metal (steel) or precast concrete elements. During construction, in order to protect the outside surface of these pipelines, a considerably thick nonwoven geotextile layer is wrapped around them in order to absorb any impact forces resulting from the placement and compaction operations.

THE SOLUTION

Thrace Group PNW/NWR-100 Needle-punched Nonwoven geotextile series offers superior mechanical properties of tensile strength/elongation, static puncture as well as perforation resistance making it very suitable for pipeline protection.

THE BENEFITS

  • Protecting pipeline surface for secure backfilling operations
  • Minimisation of future contingencies with high repair costs
