The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Company “THRACE PLASTICS HOLDING COMPANY COMMERCIAL SOCIETE ANONYME”, with the distinctive title “THRACE PLASTICS CO S.A.,” announce with deep sorrow the passing of the Company’s Non-Executive Board Member, Christos-Alexis (Titos) Komninos.

Over many years of service on the Company’s Board of Directors, including as Vice Chairman, he made a substantial contribution to the success of the Thrace Group. In addition to his normal duties, he served as a mentor to Top Management teams of both Group and its subsidiaries, generously offering his knowledge, experience, and innovative way of thinking, and his influence was pivotal and hugely inspirational to all in the Group.

The Board of Directors and the employees of Thrace Group extend their deepest respect to the memory of the late Christos-Alexis Komninos and express their heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Christos-Alexis Komninos was born in Istanbul in 1943. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) with a degree in Chemical Engineering (MSc). He began his long and successful professional career in 1972 at Coca Cola 3E in Greece, where he held various positions until 1987. From 1987 to 1990, he served as CEO of Coca Cola Bottlers Ireland (a subsidiary of 3E). In 1990, he returned to Greece, and in 1995, he assumed the role of CEO of the Greek subsidiary, a position he held until 2000.

From 2000 to 2004, he served as Chairman and CEO of PAPASTRATOS S.A. Following the acquisition of PAPASTRATOS by PHILIP MORRIS S.A., he voluntarily contributed to the “Athens Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games 2024 ” as the "Head of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Organization."

From 2005 until February 2010, he held the position of Executive Vice Chairman at SHELMAN S.A. and ELMAR S.A.

From December 2011 until February 2014, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Petroleum S.A. (HELPE).

Additionally, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board and member of the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), and was a Board member of FINANSBANK (Turkey), ANADOLU EFES (Turkey), HALCOR S.A. (VIOSALCO Group), and the Thrace Plastics Group, where he continued to fulfill his duties with integrity and commitment until his final days.

Christos Komninos was a sports enthusiast, particularly fond of basketball, and was a former player and Board member of the Turkish team Anadolu Efes. Known internationally in the basketball community, in recent years, he served on FIBA’s financial committees and was a long-standing supporter of the National Basketball Team.

He was married and had two daughters.
